Moisturizing Body Butters

January 5th, 2005 by Lisa

6 oz oil (I like to utilize a combo of oils: sweet almond, jojoba, emu, hemp, avocado, shea or mango butter, etc.)
1 oz of cocoa butter
1 oz of beeswax
essential oil to taste
(I like using a combo of sandalwood eo and rose oil)

Melt beeswax in a glass measure in a pot of boiling water (double boiler method). When wax is melted…add cocoa butter and melt….when this is melted…add oils and stir well…heat if necessary to keep mixture in a liquid state. Take glass measure out of boiling water….let cool just a tad. Add essential oils to taste…remember that a little goes a long way. If you would like to color your body butters…now is the time to add a little mica or cosmetic grade glitter.

Fill sterilized pots…let cool with the lids off….when cooled…put the tops on the containers on and seal. You can adjust the ‘type’ of body butter….loose or stiff by adjusting the amount of beeswax used.
